About the New York Center for Transition
The New York Center for Transition was founded by Michelle Carter, LFD, GC-C,  a  grief counselor and  funeral director born and raised in Northern Westchester County.

She is a graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School, the University at Albany, and Canyon College.  Although her first career was in journalism, Michelle has become the third generation and ninth individual in her family to graduate from the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service.

Michelle is certified and accredited in Grief Counseling through the American Academy of Grief Counselors, and is licensed as a funeral director through the New York State Department of Health.

Currently, she is completing her training as a Suicide Prevention Educator through a division of the Harvard School of Public Health.

Through her training, Michelle as specialized in complicated grief processes, mindful grieving, the dying process, the prevention and aftermath of suicides, and dealing with chronic illnesses.

Michelle makes her home in Northern Westchester County, and is a proud and active member of the Hendrick Hudson Lions Club.
